Biography
Growing up, we often look to the adults in our lives for inspiration. Matt didn’t have to look far: his neighbor was a partner at JAK + Co.
Matt’s convinced this early look at CPA life, coupled with sage advice from his parents, inspired him to declare accounting as his college major. (It also didn’t hurt that he excelled in his accounting courses.) Following graduation, Matt joined the firm as a junior staff member in 2006.
Not surprisingly, Matt’s role in the firm has evolved over the years, and he was named partner in 2024. As a self-described generalist, Matt oversees financial statement and GAAP reporting engagements but is also knowledgeable on the tax side.
Matt is like a hawk when it comes to looking out for his clients’ best interests. He rarely gets flustered, even in the face of a deadline. He says it’s hard to feel stressed when you’re doing what you love, which for him is supporting others in any way he can.
Matt appreciates the opportunity to work with great people each day—both clients and coworkers. He’s also grateful the firm’s emphasis on work-life balance allows him to spend plenty of time with the other wonderful people in his life: his family.
